Professor Dmitry Gololobov heads iLaw’s CIS practice and is a Russian advocate and member of the Moscow Bar. He qualified as an English solicitor in 2015.
He has three Masters degrees and PHDs in Russian and English law.

Dmitry is a visiting Research Fellow and Professor at the University of Westminster, where he lectures in international financial crime (specifically money laundering and corporate fraud).

Between 1995 and 2003 Dmitry was the Russia Deputy General Counsel for the YUKOS Oil Company. In 2003 he was promoted to General Counsel, a role which he enjoyed until 2004 at which point he came to the UK. Dmitry was with YUKOS throughout the boom years of the early 2000s as well as advising on the tax claims that were subsequently brought against the company by the Russian government.

Dmitry’s areas of specialism are as follows:

  • Corporate law;
  • CIS financial and corporate crime; and
  • Corporate conflicts.

Dmitry is the author of numerous publications in the UK, USA and Russia on a range of topics relating to Russian economic crime and corporate conflicts. He also writes for two of the most popular Russian collective blog spaces (sion.ru and forbes.ru) on the subject of corporate and economic crime.

Dmitry regularly reports on Russian economic crime at the annual International Symposium on Economic Crime held at Cambridge University.
