iLaw is an innovative City of London commercial law firm with a focus on clients in the technology, media and telecoms sectors, although we have many clients in other sectors too. We advise clients through highly skilled and experienced lawyers, who are among the best in their specialist fields.
While most of our lawyers have been in practice for many years, we have a refreshingly young and flexible outlook, adapted to the modern business world. We are structured differently from traditional firms, in that we do not have large numbers of junior and support staff. This means that nothing gets in the way of our partner-level lawyers providing high quality, fast and commercial legal advice. It also means that we do not have the high cost-base of traditional firms, so we can charge much lower rates. Our ethos can be summarised in three words:
This is a new model for City law firms, and has captured the imagination of the legal market. We featured highly in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers 2008 report, outperforming many of the major national and international firms, and were shortlisted for The Lawyer’s Annual Awards 2009. Our Partners are listed in The Legal 500 and Chambers as leading indviduals and iLaw is ranked as a leading firm for litigation and technology.
One of the advantages of using iLaw is that we guarantee partner level contact. Many of our solicitors are recognised as leaders in their fields, and have:
We draw on all this experience to give you the best possible service. It helps us to identify the key issues quickly and address them efficiently, commercially and cost effectively. We understand the language of our clients and their trading partners, and supply intelligent solutions.
That experience equips us to provide high quality services, and to address the needs of our clients. Aspects of that quality include:
Our structure and flexible working methods enable us to provide excellent value for money. You will have direct access to us, and you will not generally need to deal with junior solicitors or secretaries. This means that duplication of time and effort, and associated cost increases, will be avoided. We recognise that what we do for clients has a value to the client, and we will always work with the client to identify the most cost-effective solutions for their needs, which includes looking at the way we charge.
We are highly flexible in the way we charge. In addition to the traditional hourly rate (which is low), we are able to agree risk-sharing arrangements such as success-based fees or fixed fees. We can also offer discounted day rates and different forms of retainer payment, depending on what arrangement is best suited to the client’s requirements.
