iLaw, the City boutique law firm, is pleased to announce that it has acted for Orka Investments, an alternative investment and advisory firm, on a joint venture for the acquisition and redevelopment of a major site in Mayfair.
Orka sources and manages high profile investments in real estate on behalf of and in partnership with some of the largest institutions in the world. On this occasion, Orka paired up with global investor Bain Capital, represented by international law firm Mayer Brown. iLaw’s Tony Roberts (head of Corporate) and Justin Ellis (co-founder) helped Orka to close the deal to secure the acquisition of the site, which includes 72 rooms Park Lane Mews Hotel and 17 adjacent residentials units in Mayfair.
Located at one of the world’s most prestigious address in between Green Park and Hyde Park, the hotel will be totally refurbished and repositioned to offer a luxury hotel experience to its clients.
iLaw advised Orka on the Shareholders’ Agreement for the joint venture company that acquired the site. It also advised Orka on its Management Agreement with the joint venture company, under which Orka will manage the redevelopment of the site.
Raoul Malhotra, one of Orka’s founders, said “We’ve worked with iLaw on a few projects now, and we like the efficient way they execute their work.”
Justin Ellis, co-founder of iLaw, commented “It’s great to be able to establish solid relationships with the owners of our client businesses, and to help them achieve their goals. That’s why I established iLaw – because I enjoy building those personal relationships and supporting people I like.”
