David is a consultant solicitor specialising in dispute resolution.

 

David has over 16 years’ experience delivering strong commercial outcomes and has developed trusted adviser relationships with clients across a number of sectors including FMCG, retail, media, and technology.

 

David helps clients strategically with IP disputes, to achieve a satisfactory commercial resolution, and is one of the few IP specialists in the market with heavyweight litigation expertise and reported cases in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, and High Court.

 

He has a broad commercial practice which includes acting in complex contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, construction, property, and intellectual property disputes at previous firms including Mishcon de Reya and Stephenson Harwood.

 

David has acted in some of the UK’s most high profile cases including the Fiona Trust litigation and the BTA/Ablyazov litigation.

 

David was also the lead associate on Lucasfilm v Ainsworth, the leading case on artistic copyright and the effect of section 51 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. The Supreme Court held Star Wars Stormtrooper helmets were not a sculpture, therefore not protected by UK copyright in drawings. Also the leading case on the jurisdiction of English Courts to try foreign IP infringement cases.
